League Rules

Scrap Heap Fantasy AFL consists of two leagues of 16 teams, each with a 3 week preseason before the 15 week head-to-head regular season. The schedule is that given on the Schedule page in each league at Yahoo Fantasy AFL. A win in a weekly matchup scores three points, a loss scores no points, whilst a tie scores one point. The top 8 teams in each league at the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs. The final regular season standings will be determined as follows:

  • Points total.
  • Tied teams will be separated by the aggregate of win/loss margins over the regular season.
  • Teams still tied will be separated by the score from the regular season matches between the teams.
  • Teams still tied will be separated by a comparison of their records against the #1 team in the league.
  • Teams still tied will be separated by a comparison of their records against the #2 team in the league.
  • Teams still tied will be separated by a comparison of their records against the #3 team in the league, and so on until....
  • Teams still tied will be separated by a comparison of their records against the #16 team in the league.
  • Random coin toss.

The 16 teams qualifying for the playoffs will be seeded according to their regular season points total within each league (same records separated by aggregate of win/loss margins, then by number of wins). The #1 seed will face #16, #2 vs #15 and so on in round 1 of the playoffs. See the table below for a summary of playoff seedings.
