League Format
The league consists of several sections:
-
Races 1-9 will be used to as a qualifying competition. The top 32 teams will continue to the Group Stage. Teams placed 33 or lower at the end of this period will be removed from the group.
-
The remaining teams will be drawn in to two groups of sixteen teams, based on their final qualification positions. Teams will compete in a 15-week round-robin league, facing each team in their group once in this period. Each matchup lasts one week and three points are awarded to the winner (1 point each for a tie). The top 8 in each group at the end of the group stage (race 24) will advance to the knockout stages.
-
The remaining teams are seeded using their ranking in the group stage. This gives us a set of head-to-head matches, with seed A1 playing seed B8, A2 v B7, A3 v B6, etc. The matches last for three races with the winner progressing to the next round. In total there are four rounds of head-to-head action over races 25 to 36, after which we will have a champion!
-
Managers will then be ranked on their performance in the competition in order to determine the points awarded in the Scrap Heap Championship. Points will be awarded according to points scale C.
