Scrap Heap Fantasy Sports - Inactivity Policy

With the popularity of the leagues increasing and leading to more deployments of waiting lists for leagues, it has become apparent that managers with good records of sustained activity throughout all the leagues which they enter should be given priority for entry in to new leagues. The list below shows instances of inactivity from managers in Scrap Heap leagues, with infringements separated in to two categories:

• Minor offence - This is usually due to registering for a league through the Scrap Heap website and then failing to join the associated Yahoo league. This has the commissioner wasting a lot of time sending second and third invites, before having to then change the group password and invite managers on the waiting list.
• Major offence - These are due to two reasons. Firstly, joining a league and then leaving midseason, possibly putting the competition in jeopardy. Secondly, joining a league and then not updating lineups for several weeks. This leads to injured players on rosters, or teams running out of starts for players and hence scoring zero points.

A minor offence is worth 1 point, a major offence is worth three points. Points are wiped out after two cycles of each league. For example, inactivity points accrued during the 2007 baseball season are wiped out when the 2009 edition opens for registration.

For leagues with a limit on the number of teams, any manager with nine or more inactivity points against their name will automatically be placed at the bottom of the waiting list. Only if there are places still available in the Yahoo League at the registration deadline will managers be invited to the league, provided all managers above them on the waiting list have had an opportunity to join. Currently this applies for the following sports:

• Baseball
• Formula 1
• Golf
• NASCAR
• NBA
• NFL (Live Draft Leagues, Pick'em, Salary Cap and College Football)
• NHL
• Soccer (English and European)

Note that points deductions within certain leagues (MLB, NHL, etc) still apply.
